Sailing Field Trips: Where Lake Pontchartrain Becomes the Classroom

Turn a day on Lake Pontchartrain into an unforgettable learning experience.

Our Sailing Field Trips transform the water into a dynamic, hands-on classroom where students apply what they’re learning in real time — from wind and weather to ecosystems, physics, and teamwork. Through sailing and place-based exploration, students don’t just study concepts — they experience them.

Designed for grades 4–12, each program is customized to align with Louisiana state standards and can be tailored to complement current classroom curriculum. We place a strong emphasis on:

  • STEM learning in action (physics, math, engineering, meteorology)

  • Environmental science & coastal restoration

  • Local ecology and watershed awareness

  • Social-emotional learning (SEL) including communication, resilience, leadership, and confidence-building

  • Team-building and collaboration as students work together to rig, launch, and sail

On the water, every student has a role. Sailing requires problem-solving, clear communication, adaptability, and trust — making it an ideal platform for strengthening class culture and building leadership skills.

We offer Sailing Field Trips for:

  • Elementary, middle, and high school classes (grades 4–12)

  • STEM, science, environmental science, and marine science courses

  • Schools seeking experiential, standards-aligned field trips

  • Youth-serving nonprofits and clubs

  • Programs focused on environmental stewardship and outdoor education

*No prior sailing experience required!*

Field trips can be customized for individual classes, grade-level groups, athletic teams, leadership cohorts, or larger school and organizational partnerships.
